Becken celebrates topping-out ceremony for "CURVE" office building in Düsseldorf city center

  • Completion as planned at the end of 2024
  • Building gap closure between Königsallee and near the main station
  • Main tenant: Consumer Center North Rhine-Westphalia

Hamburg / Düsseldorf, September 7, 2023 - The shell is finished: Becken, a specialist in project development, revitalization, asset and investment management for commercial and residential properties, celebrated the traditional topping-out ceremony for the "CURVE" in Düsseldorf city center today together with the construction company Dreßler and the guest of honor, District Mayor Dietmar Wolf. The six-storey office building fills a gap in Helmholtzstrasse near Düsseldorf's main railway station and within walking distance of Königsallee. At around 7,000 of a total of around 10,800 square meters, the majority of the building has been let to the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Advice Center. The building is scheduled to be ready for occupancy at the end of 2024.

For District Mayor Dietmar Wolf, the new office complex is an asset in every respect: "The 'CURVE' blends seamlessly into Düsseldorf's city center in terms of urban development and also makes a decisive contribution to climate and environmental protection thanks to its high energy efficiency, the infrastructure for electric vehicles and the photovoltaic system."

Joachim Schmidt-Mertens, Managing Director of Becken Development GmbH, is delighted that construction is progressing according to plan: "Closing building gaps of this size in central, densely populated locations is a major challenge in itself. In the case of 'CURVE', the economic and foreign policy developments that were unforeseeable at the planning stage have kept us busy time and again. I am very grateful to everyone involved that we were nevertheless able to stay on course."

Jens Hogekamp, Managing Director of Becken Development und Asset Management GmbH, says: "This project is another example of how we consistently implement sustainability criteria in project developments and revitalizations. The fact that the consumer advice center has rented the building is proof of its attractiveness and central location."

The investment volume is stated at 82 million euros. The office property was designed with the aim of remaining attractive for tenants and investors in the long term. This is ensured by the prestigious design, the flexibly usable office units from 400 square meters in size, 200 underground parking spaces, a charging infrastructure for e-mobility, as well as the high energy standard and the DGNB Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council. The 'CURVE' has thus qualified as a sustainable investment in accordance with the EU taxonomy. JSWD Architekten GmbH & Co. KG was commissioned as the designer.
