Becken acquires office building in Hamburg's City Nord from Wintershall Dea
- 20,000 square meter property at Überseering 40
- Existing building has around 28,600 square metres of office space and around 550 car
parking spaces in the two basement levels
- Gas and oil company Wintershall Dea will continue to use the building as its corporate headquarters in Hamburg
Hamburg, January 15, 2021. The owner-managed Hamburg real estate and investment company Becken has acquired an approximately 20,000 square meter site with an office building at the Hamburg office location "City Nord" from the gas and oil company Wintershall Dea. The office property is located at Überseering 40 and has around 28,600 square meters of office space on nine floors as well as around 550 parking spaces in the two basement levels. The seller has concluded a lease agreement for the continued use of the space until the move to a new office building. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The office building was built in 1977 and is part of the City Nord monument ensemble. Dominik Tenhumberg, Managing Director of Becken Development GmbH, on the location of the site: "The local office submarket is one of Hamburg's most important business locations. Companies such as Deutsche Telekom, ERGO and Tchibo are located here." "The direct corner location on the Jahnring has high visibility at the western entrance to City Nord and ensures optimal accessibility. In the course of the construction of the new underground line 5, accessibility by public transport will improve even further with the construction of the underground station 'City Nord' directly in front of the property," Tenhumberg continued.
