  • New building with 274 rental apartments with a total of 20,900 square meters of living space
  • 104 one- and two-room apartments and 170 three- to four-room apartments
  • Completion of construction planned for Q2 2021

Hamburg, July 10, 2019 - Hamburg-based project developer Becken laid the foundation stone for the "Charlie Mills Quarter" residential project yesterday. The ceremony was attended by the partners involved in the project, Bayerische Ärzteversorgung, whose business is managed by Bayerische Versorgungskammer, as the future owner, and Thomas Ritzenhoff, head of the Wandsbek district authority. By the second quarter of 2021, Becken will have developed a new detached building with 274 apartments with a total rental area of around 20,900 square meters on the approximately 14,200 square meter site at Friedrich-Ebert-Damm 243 / corner of Charlie-Mills-Straße.

Dieter Becken, Managing Partner of Becken Holding GmbH, says: "It is a pleasure for me to see the 'Charlie Mills Quarter' grow from now on." He adds: "In an intensive and constructive coordination process with the city, we have succeeded in creating an urban development highlight here in Farmsen, directly on Hamburg's Green Ring. The elaborately designed open space will complement and enhance the existing greenery here. With its special, smooth metal façade, the residential building will be a striking eye-catcher." Axel Uttenreuther, Member of the Board of Bayerische Versorgungskammer, says: "This quarter will provide future residents of the Farmsen district with attractive living space. Against the backdrop of Hamburg's rising population, the 'Charlie Mills Quarter' is a promising investment for us."
In June 2019, Becken sold the project development to Bayerische Ärzteversorgung. The residential building comprises six full storeys and a staggered storey. 56 residential units will be let at a rent-controlled rate with a maximum permissible rent of EUR 9.50 per square meter. A total of 104 one- and two-room apartments and 170 three- to four-room apartments are planned. Future tenants will have access to 147 parking spaces in the underground garage. In addition, a separate underground garage with 109 parking spaces will be built for the neighbor, Deutsche Rentenversicherung Nord.
