- Second place for FleetOffice office building
- Jury honours new office building Esplace and the refurbishment of the listed Finland House
Hamburg, 28 January 2019 - In December 2018, the project developer Becken, which operates throughout Germany, received awards for three of its Hamburg projects at the BDA Hamburg Architecture Prize 2018. The new FleetOffice office building in the Hammerbrook district was awarded second place. The Esplace office project development and the refurbishment of the listed Finland House also received awards. The prize was awarded to exemplary buildings in the greater Hamburg area for the quality of their planning and construction for the years 2016 to 2018. Architects and builders alike are honoured.
The FleetOffice, which was realised in two construction phases until June 2017, has eleven floors and a total of around 30,000 square metres of rental space. The representative office building owes its name to its location between two canals. Dominik Tenhumberg, Managing Director of Becken Development GmbH, says: "We are very pleased with the second place and the associated recognition of the architectural and structural quality. This shows once again that we deliver real quality even on a tight budget and in B-locations". Together with the client, the Hamburg-based architectural firm Hadi Teherani Architects GmbH was awarded the prize.
The Esplace office projects and the revitalised Finland House, also completed in summer 2017, were honoured at the award ceremony. The construction task was to completely revitalise the listed Finland House from 1966 and make it fit for the future. The neighboring Esplace complements the office high-rise ensemble in the Esplanade, which is characteristic of the cityscape. The architects were Winking - Froh Architekten GmbH for the Esplace and HPP Architekten GmbH for the Finland House.
